The IGS team is travelling again – this week (19/20/21 November) some of our colleagues are off to Singapore to attend the second Asia Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Week. The event, which was very successfully launched last year, brings together those in government, academia, science, technology and production to explore the latest innovations and market opportunities in the agri-food supply chain. Targeted at markets in Southeast Asia, India and China the demands of population growth and food security are extremely high and the level of innovation underway to address this is abundant. Built on a platform of collaboration, the IGS team was keen to support and sponsor such an exciting and forward-thinking event.
David Farquhar, our CEO, has taken part in a panel session alongside Fluence, HelioSpectra, Vindara, Spread and Sustenir looking at the technologies and science driving efficiencies in indoor farming. David emphasised how early a stage this industry is at, with a long way to go, but an extraordinary amount of opportunity. This makes collaboration, innovation and commitment essential. It was a lively and interesting panel discussion and provided much food for thought and clear practical examples of where the industry is moving.
